About the work: Norwegian hyttes have been used for years, by those wanting to escape to the wilds seeking friluftsliv, a culture of celebrating time outdoors, surrounded by beloved nature. This woodcut is a unique colour way, hand printed by the artist, before the edition was finalised. It is part of a series of isolated landscapes.
Bio: Sadie Tierney studied at the Royal College of Art. Working in a tradition of a landscape painter and printmaker, her work explores objects and places where form is linked to emotion and metaphor through energetic use of colour and line.
Solo exhibitions include Flowers East, Rabley Gallery and Eton College. Tierney’s work is held in the collections of the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York; The National Museum in Gdańsk; The Imperial Health Trust, London; The Royal West of England Academy and Pallant House Gallery.
