About the work: We tend to think of petrol stations as bleak, transitory spaces, with their sensory assault of fuel odours and fluorescent strip lighting. They’re unsightly but essential and eerily homogeneous. In the future, when electric cars rule the roads, petrol stations may not exist as we know them today But my sculptural proposal Forecourt Twister reconsiders these roadside fixtures, reminding us of their diversity as worldwide objects of architectural and cultural curiosity.
