About the work: A favourite object. The heft of the cast iron base contrasted with the lightness of the glass and the cast & spun aluminium on top.
Bio: Piers studied at the AA School in the late 60’s and co founded the CZWG Architects in the mid 70’s. He has designed many iconic buildings including China Wharf & The Circle in Bermondsey, the CDT building at Bryanston School and the JSP house at 44 Britton Street. All of which have been listed by Heritage England. More recently The Green Bridge at Mile End, Canada Water Library and the delightful Turquoise Island Public Lavatory and Flower Shop on Westbourne Grove. He was awarded a CBE for Services to Architecture in 1998 and elected an RA in 2002.
