Bio: Lothar Göetz ( born 1963 in Günzburg, Germany ) studied Visual Communication at the Fachhochschule Aachen (1983 – 1988), Aesthetics at the University of Wuppertal (1991 – 1995) Fine Art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (1993 – 1995) and Ma Painting at the Royal College of Art (1996-1988)
Lothar Göetz is an Associate Professor of Fine Art at Sunderland University and is based in London and Berlin. He has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. Solo exhibitions include Gasworks and Chisenhale Gallery, Petra Rinck Gallery, Düsseldorf, Domobaal, London, David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen and most recently Hatton Gallery in Newcastle. In Spring 2010 he contributed a major work to Murals, an international showcase exhibition on wall painting at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona and in 2017, he participated with a specially commissioned wall work in Seurat to Riley, The Art of Perception at Compton Verney. Public commissions include Platform for Art at Piccadilly Circus Underground station in 2007; a collaboration with Caruso St John Architects at the Arts Council England Offices in 2008 and site-specific installations for the Love Festival at Southbank Centre, London, 2014; most recent wall work commissions are at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, 2016, Leeds Art Gallery, 2017 and in the café of MIMA, Middlesbrough and the Towner, Eastbourne.
