About the work: Jasleen Kaur sources images to ask how the mass produced or abandoned image has shaped the histories she inherited. In this altered image of land restitution between the Muslim and Sikh communities of Moga, Panjab, 2021, foundations are being ceremonially laid for a mosque to be reconstructed — a counter image. The crop and conceal of these photographs is employed as a tactic to intervene with legibility and materialise a refusal.
