About the work: Cinema today is ubiquitous as a global medium, yet inflected in specific sites, ecologies, histories. The Urdu Film series stages a multiplicity of encounters between form, medium, and temporality in South Asia. Saturated color dissolves into faded hues, and the rectangular cinema screen is submerged in the scansion of the oval TV screen.

Bio: Iftikhar Dadi & Elizabeth Dadi have collaborated in their art practice for over twenty years. One focus is on questions of memory, borders, and identity in contemporary globalization. Another trajectory engages with the productive and creative capacities of urban informalities in the Global South. They draw from diverse archival, art historical, and media references, and work across various mediums.
