Emma Stibbon RA

Title: Sea and rocks

Media: Ink and sea water

Size: 29.5 x 41.7cm

About the work: I find drawing the sea is compulsive – different sea states and weather continually transform the elements. Sometimes the quality of light can make the material immaterial, rock, water and air lose their boundaries. I made this drawing from observation at the beautiful Baie de Cavalière using ink diluted with the sea water.

Title: Resiliant

Media: monotype with ink hand colouring (unique work)

Size: 28.5 x 41.5cm

About the work: I wanted to draw this tree, hanging onto the the edge of a cliff. It seemed a defiant symbol, holding out against the erosive power of the sea below.
